Youth Ministry

Our youth and family ministries equip youth in grades 6 through 12 to be disciples of Jesus Christ. We do this by connecting them to one another in community, helping them grow in faith, assisting them in discovering their gifts, and serving others with their lives.

Our ministries center on the Biblical principles of worship, service, evangelism, fellowship, and discipleship. We use a variety of modern ways to communicate with one another including Remind, e-mail, FaceBook, and YouTube.

Middle School Activities: Grades 6th thru 8th

  • Confirmation classes are held weekly, from September through May, on Sundays from 3 - 4:30 pm. This three-year program, led by our pastors, is designed for all 6th – 8th graders and seeks to help youth claim their faith.

  • Our middle school students participate in many outings to help them build community and see God at work in our lives. These include but are not limited to: Craig’s Cruisers, movies, sledding, and The Great Wolf Lodge.

  • Trinity middle school students are encouraged to spend a week with us during July at Stony Lake Bible Camp. The generosity of our congregation ensures that all those who want to go to camp can. For more information contact Pastor Dan.

  • Monthly our middle school students engage in serving the community through a variety of opportunities.

  • Middle school students, 6th – 8th grade, gather on Sunday afternoons during the Confirmation class year at 2 pm. This is a great time of fellowship and fun before Confirmation class.

High School Activities: Grades 9th thru 12th

  • Our high schoolers meet weekly at 6:30 pm in the youth room on Sunday nights. This is a time of building community and seeking to understand God’s call on our lives.

  • Our high school youth, and their friends, gather with Pastor Dan for Bible study during the 9:15 am service on the first Sunday of the month. There are donuts, juice, and conversation about how the scriptures connect and guide our lives. Come for the donuts and stay for the conversation.

  • Every summer our youth spend a week rebuilding homes and lives, and experiencing God in life changing ways.

  • Every three years our high schoolers gather with over 30,000 other youth from all over the world to serve and praise God at the ELCA National Youth Gathering.

  • Monthly our high schoolers head out on adventures or gather to learn about topics. Some examples of what they have done are: learn about the life of a refugee from a member of our congregation, participate in synod and larger gatherings, and fast for 30 hours to better understand global and local hunger.

  • Our high schoolers actively engage in serving the community of Trinity and the greater Grand Rapids community in a variety of ways.
