Trinity will open a new exhibition of art and poetry in the Overlook Gallery, running through the end of June. The show will feature the elegant, naturalist etchings, carvings, and drawings of Kalamazoo-based artist Ladislav Hanka alongside a selection of poems from John Linstrom’s new, debut poetry collection, To Leave for Our Own Country. The book features Hanka’s artwork on the cover, and this exhibition will represent a continuing dialogue between artist and poet. The two will be available in the Overlook Gallery between services that morning, and will host a formal opening reception at 2:30 followed by the Michigan launch of the book at 3:30 in the Courtyard. The book launch will feature Linstrom reading from and discussing the book, and copies will be available for sale and signing. A limited number of copies including an original, signed impression of the etching from the book’s cover will also be available for purchase.
